About the Author
BRIAN SCHIFF, PT, OCS, CSCS graduated from The Ohio State University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree of Physical Therapy in Allied Health Professions. Since then, he has practiced as a licensed physical therapist specializing in sports medicine. Through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Brian became a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) in 1998.
Brian is a board certified clinical orthopedic specialist (OCS) and has produced DVDs on rotator cuff training/rehab, knee osteoarthritis, ACL injury prevention and running related knee injuries. He has also authored The Ultimate Rotator Cuff Training Guide.
He has been featured in Men's Health Best LIfe Magazine and is a regular columnist for Personal Fitness Professional Magazine contributing articles and information regarding injury prevention, injury recovery, rehab, functional training and sports performance.
Currently, he is the supervisor at EXOS at Raleigh Orthopaedic in Raleigh, NC, where he rehabs patients on a daily basis. Brian also served as the strength and conditioning coach for The Columbus Crew Major League Soccer Team from 2002 - 2006.
He has presented at professional conferences and coaches’ clinics on topics including training for shoulder stability, baseball specific training, safe shoulder training, functional golf training, soccer specific conditioning, ACL injury prevention and sport specific training. He actively presents continuing education for Allied Health Education for other physical therapists on the topics of labral tears, hip impingement, ACL prevention, knee osteoarthritis, running health/rehab and managing the overhead athlete.
